A large gorse fire blazed through hundreds of acres in the Seskin area of Bantry throughout the night until the early hours of this morning.
The Munster Regional Communications Centre, which is responsible for mobilising fire appliances within the region, said Bantry Fire Brigade dispatched one unit to the scene near Bantry after receiving a call at approximately 10.26pm yesterday.

Gardaí in Cork have warned motorists to take care on roads in icy conditions throughout the county this morning.
Gardaí in Bandon said that quite a lot of the roads in the area here are very icy at the minute with roads toward Timoleague and roads toward Innishannon and Dunderrow in a particularly icy condition. Even the road going from Bandon toward Macroom is poor as well, a garda spokesperson told The Echo.
