RAPID CITY, S.D. The Schroeder Fire is 100% contained as of Monday morning, but it’s not a wrap just yet.
Fire line managers and support staff remain hard at work preparing to turn over the reins to local management. Ground crews spent Monday putting out hot spots before handing over control Monday evening.
However, containment does not mean the fire is out.
“The difference between containment and control is contained we feel comfortable that the fire isn’t going to proceed anymore, control is that we feel that the whole perimeter is out and in a state were we can just patrol and monitor,” said Jared Hohn, Incident Commander for the Rocky Mountain Blue Team.
