CREATE-a-thon, a different kind of telethon

CREATE-a-thon, a different kind of telethon | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 CREATE Community Studios is taking the telethon model to a new level.  From 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, through 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, they’ll host virtual art workshops as well as live music and open-mic style performances. It’s all part of CREATE-a-thon, a fundraiser supporting CREATE. The non-profit has studio locations in Schenectady and Saratoga Springs and provides a space for people to create art as a means of self-expression. Beyond hosting regular art workshops and classes, throughout the pandemic, CREATE has donated more than 175 art kits and 270 bags of sidewalk chalk to community organizations to help combat isolation. 

Adirondack Trust Company Community Fund awards $80k in local grants

With COVID-19 precautions in place, a digital awards reception celebrated the grant recipients. Since 2012, Lend-A-Hand Grants have been awarded annually using community funds from ATCCF’s annual Autumn of Giving Match Campaign. Because of the economic stresses, COVID-19 has placed on businesses and individuals, the Adirondack Trust Company fully funded this year’s grant efforts, donating $77,000 in lieu of the typical Match Campaign. - Advertisement - “In a year full of challenges and difficult decisions, the Community Fund is grateful that Adirondack Trust quickly stepped up to fund the 2020 Lend-A-Hand Grants,” ATCCF Advisory Committee Chair Brian Straughter said. “We are so grateful for our community partnerships like this one, Straughter added.
