The specialty court started in 2016 and is designed to help military veterans avoid jail time for certain misdemeanors while addressing the underlying issues that may have contributed to their arrest. ...................... Jefferson, who served in the Army for six years, picked up his first aggravated DWI charge in June 2019 after rear-ending another driver at a stop sign, court documents show. He got another aggravated DWI three months later after an officer saw him speeding and drifting back and forth in his lane. He faced up to 180 days in jail on the charges.
