Stratford seeking funding for pilot project aimed at housing the homeless

Article content Homeless people in the Stratford area who struggle with mental-health and addiction issues may soon have the support they need to remain in permanent, affordable housing. During Monday’s council meeting, city councillors gave the go-ahead to the city’s social services department to submit a proposal to the Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation to potentially secure funding through the Rapid Housing Initiative – a new federal program aimed at accelerating the construction of 3,000 affordable housing units across the country for vulnerable people – for the development of an alternative housing pilot project.
