Napier reflects on economic development in Cohoes in 2020; looks ahead to 2021

COHOES, N.Y. — As 2020 draws to a close, communities across the Capital Region are looking ahead to the New Year. In the midst of an unprecedented global health pandemic, the city of Cohoes has broken expectations by thriving where others continue to struggle. Director of the Office of Economic and Community Development Stephen Napier took some time to reflect on the keys to the Spindle City s success in 2020, as well as what he hopes to see in 2021. Napier credits Cohoes s ability to continue growing under the strains of COVID-19 to lots of hard work and lots of community support. Events such as Restaurant Takeout Weeks and the Open Air Market on Small Business Saturday have given the community a lot of opportunities to support the small businesses that are the lifeblood of Cohoes. Napier described the effects of COVID-19 on the city as only slowing it down, rather than stopping it.
