A Helston-based coffee hut has teamed up with the local community larder to spread the word about its pay it forward scheme. The Coffee Hut Helston is still running its pay it forward scheme - where customers can pay in advance for someone else’s meal or hot drink so that someone who is in need – whether they are down on their luck, lost their purse, out of work or even homeless - can access a meal or drink and even some comfort for a while. The scheme has been used across the country in order to help those who might not have the money to buy their own food, those sleeping rough, or emergency services works such as nurses or paramedics.

This money will enable both good causes to continue their essential work in these unprecedented circumstances.
In light of the national emergency the country continues to face, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, announced this £2m fund in February to help local frontline charities during 2021.
This follows £1m of support delivered by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund in 2020, which helped charities across many sectors to keep their life-changing services going throughout the pandemic.
To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 300 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.
Residents in the Pennyburn, Whitehirst and Blacklands areas of Kilwinning now have the opportunity to get local access to a variety of low-cost produce. The council’s latest community pantry will include fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, tinned goods and personal hygiene products. North Ayrshire Council has been supporting community organisations as they co-produce a North Ayrshire community food network known as North Ayrshire Fairer Food, following on from the initial coronavirus lockdown. Cranberry’s Community Larder in Kilwinning was launched in partnership with North Ayrshire Council following the successful launch of Ardrossan’s Quaint Larder and the Woodwynd Wee Shoap.
