Ward 1 Councilor Helen Moon asked the Director of Huma Resources Michael Taylor why there is a line item for Diversity and Inclusion when the city is implementing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department. Taylor said there will still be an element of DEI that falls under his department despite the new office. We re still going to work very collaboratively with this new office, whether it s on recruitment and retention efforts, or it s on professional development, he explained. And instituting the recommendations on that DEI group had a pretty heavy professional development component and training requirement, not just for city employees, also city boards, commissions, elected officials and so forth.

Near the end of a more than two-hour discussion on the Water Advisory Committee’s Ground and Surface Water Management Plan, Councilman Mike Bebon warned his Town Board colleagues that they must commit now to implementing recommendations on the quality and quantity of Island water.
That was at the May 18 Town Board work session in which the councilman, who chairs the Water Advisory Committee (WAC) outlined all of the recommendations. He wasn’t asking that every recommendation be implemented immediately, but that the Town Board commit to starting the process and to developing a time line for implementing others.
Cohasset sets warrant for Town Meeting
The warrant for Cohasset’s Annual Town Meeting has been finalized and sent to the printers.
Town officials have constructed the warrant for the better part of the last nine months, cementing the agenda earlier this month.
“Preparation for this year’s Warrant has been underway since last fall,” said Town Manager Chris Senior in a letter attached to the final copy of the warrant. “The most important meeting of the year, Town Meeting represents the opportunity for residents to set both fiscal and policy direction for Cohasset for the year ahead.”
