The Southold Town Board has set a March 9 hearing on the possible acquisition of development rights for farmland along Main Road in Cutchogue.
The 77.8 acre property located on the north side of Main Road just west of Alvah’s Lane is located in the agricultural-conservation zoning district.
The town is aiming to purchase development rights for approximately 64 acres of the property, which is owned by WW Farms LLC, for approximately $64,203 using Community Preservation Funds, according to a hearing notice.
The property’s buildable acre value is estimated at $4.1 million and the land is listed on the town’s Community Preservation Project Plan as a property worthy of preservation due to its agricultural value.
Town of Needham
The following is a Town of Needham press release.
Needham Town Manager Kate Fitzpatrick announced Wednesday that funding is still available to help Needham residents who have lost income due to COVID-19 make rent payments in the coming months.
Approved by Special Town Meeting in October, the Emergency Rental Assistance Program includes $120,000 from the Community Housing Reserve and the Community Preservation Fund, both overseen by the Community Preservation Committee.
The program is also funded through a grant of $50,000 from the Massachusetts Covid-19 Relief Fund, secured for Needham by the Foundation for MetroWest.
“The rental assistance program offered by the Town of Needham has been incredibly helpful as the pandemic continues to create financial challenges for people like me who work in the service industry,” said Kimberly Collyer, a Needham resident who was laid off from her job as a bartender due to Covid in March.
Palumbo continues tradition started by predecessor to host environmental roundtable Assemblyman Anthony at a 2018 event. (File Photo)
Keeping a long-running tradition alive, new state Sen. Anthony Palumbo is continuing his predecessor’s practice of conducting regular environmental roundtables.
On Friday, Mr. Palumbo assembled representatives from more than a dozen area environmental organizations on Zoom to hear their concerns and priorities. He began the virtual meeting by thanking recently retired state Sen. Kenneth LaValle, who served in the Legislature for 44 years. Mr. Palumbo won that seat in November after serving in the Assembly.
At the start of the virtual meeting, Mr. LaValle, who conducted similar roundtables for years, said, “Some of the most beautiful areas in this state and maybe the world are on the East End. I am glad to see Sen. Palumbo continuing this practice.”
