United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut has been selected to be a part of the Big Y Community Bag Program, which is designed to make it easy for customers to contribute to their local community while supporting the environment.
For the month of December, each time a $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at the Big Y located at 141B Storrs Road, Mansfield, CT, $1 will be donated to United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag.
This is a great way to help United Way United Way bring together the right people and resources to ensure that children succeed academically, and families achieve financial security.

Giant Foods is partnering with Birdsong Gardens, a local Frankford nonprofit, as part of Giant’s Community Bag Program. This program empowers customers to support local nonprofits while working to reduce single-use paper and plastic waste in the environment.
For the month of December, Birdsong Gardens will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable community bag at the Giant Food store located at 38069 Town Center Drive, Millville.
Birdsong Gardens, located in Frankford, is an official Certified Wildlife Habitat site with the National Wildlife Federation and Delaware Nature Society, according to owner David Rickards. The property consists of four acres of land dedicated as a sanctuary for the monarch butterfly.

MILLVILLE, Del. – For each reusable bag purchased the Millville Giant Foods, one dollar is being donated to Bird Song Gardens, a butterfly sanctuary in Frankford. This is all a part of Giant Food’s Community Bag Program.
“This is a great way to work with our customers, help the environment, and give back,” says Media Relations Manager, Daniel Wolk.
Giant Food launched their Community Bag Program at all 164 of their locations in 2019. For each reusable bag purchased at Giant, a dollar is donated to an organization of Giant’s choice. The Millville Giant recently selected the Bird Song Gardens butterfly sanctuary.
