Genesee County gets $12 million for COVID-19 related rent assistance

GENESEE COUNTY, MI Renters facing eviction because of hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic could get federal assistance through the county’s Community Action Resource Department.
The county said in a news release Wednesday, April 14, that GCCARD has received more than $12 million in federal funds for tenants who have a household income of less than 80 percent of area median income and said that applications for the funds are available.
Individuals who qualify for the assistance can receive up to 12 months of back rent and three months of projected rental assistance as well as utility assistance for electricity, home heating, water, sewer and trash collection.
