All India Kisan Sabha floats alternate model farm law for states The Model Bill intends to ensure protection of farmers from exploitation by middlemen and large corporate entities Joe C Mathew | February 21, 2021 | Updated 16:46 IST All India Kisan Sabha has drafted an alternative farm law All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), one of the constituents of the coalition of farmer organisations agitating against the Centre s new farm laws, has drafted an alternative law - Facilitation of Social Cooperatives for Agricultural Products (Processing and Marketing) Bill 2021 - for the consideration of state governments. The Model Bill intends to ensure protection of farmers from exploitation by middlemen and large corporate entities. It will ensure additional wages for agricultural workers, additional price for products to farmers and provide remedies for related matters, says Hannan Mollah, General Secretary, AIKS.

Residents cope with power, water outages caused by storm

Feb 19, 2021 Volunteers distributed nearly 15 pallets of bottled Crazy Water to Mineral Wells residents Thursday afternoon as the city continued to deal with water issues caused by leaks. More distribution was expected Friday and Saturday. Freezing temperatures, little to no water and power outages wreaked havoc across the area this week, and even after temperatures reached the mid to high 30s Friday, many residents were left dealing with lingering issues caused by the winter storms. Weatherford resident Judy Privette, who lives on the south side of town, said her household lost power early Monday morning. On Tuesday, both toilets in the house froze. Water dripped out of the bathtub faucet just enough for it to be used to flush the toilets.
