Angola bicyclist struck, killed by dump truck ANGOLA — Retired school teacher and Trine University administrator Susah Stroh, 67, of Angola, died from injuries sustained when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a dump truck Tuesday afternoon on Wendell Jacob Avenue near Glendarin Golf Course in Angola. Police said Stroh was struck by a Steuben County Highway Department dump truck, driven by Jared Perkins, 43, of Montgomery, Michigan. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected in the crash. The crash remains under investigation, according to the Angola Police Department. Power of the Purse charity event returns Aug 27

KENDALLVILLE — Crossroads United Way, formerly United Way of Noble County, will hold its fourth annual Power of the Purse event on Aug. 27 at The Community Learning Center, 401 E. Diamond St. The event includes a delicious luncheon, designer purse raffle, the iconic “Men-In-Black” and an opportunity to support the mission of a local nonprofit benefitting Noble County women and children. Tickets can be purchased for $35 at crossroadsuw.org/purse. Power of the Purse centers around a raffle of themed purse packages that are valued at $250 and more. Packages include mini-vacations, cosmetics, wine, and other prizes in addition to the designer purses themselves. A grand prize “Power Purse” will go to one lucky winner. Although the event features a fun and playful atmosphere, it will make a powerful, positive impact on the community.

Bridgestone Continues to Support Akron Public Schools Through Applied Engineering Program

Google Earth Bridgestone has decided to continue its partnership with Akron Public Schools for its Academy of Applied Engineering and Technology at East Community Learning Center. According to the company s Program Director Bob Lux, the partnership has been a great success. The worker shortage affecting many industries is also being felt by tire-maker Bridgestone Americas. That s one reason the company is renewing a partnership with Akron Public Schools as part of the district s College and Career Academies. Since 2018, Bridgestone has supported the Academy of Applied Engineering and Technology at East Community Learning Center. Students in the program gain hands-on experience working in a functioning Firestone Complete Auto Care Center.
