Barbara Mezeske: Stop finding ways to reduce voting access
By Barbara Mezeske
Everyone agrees that voter fraud, if it were to happen, would be bad. That’s not the issue.
After the 2020 election, more than 60 lawsuits were filed, most in swing states like Michigan, alleging voter fraud. All were dismissed or dropped due to lack of evidence. Even William Barr, then-U.S. Attorney General, acknowledged in December, 2020, that widespread voter fraud had not happened. The U.S. Supreme Court rejected every appeal by organizations and individuals to invalidate votes that had been counted and certified in states.
As we all know, this long string of lawsuits, despite their failure, didn’t stop the continuing rumble about a “stolen election” or the subsequent efforts of the Republican Party to change our voting laws and practices.
