Cookbundoon Amenities Building reaches lock-up

Goulburn Mulwaree Council Work is progressing well at the new Cookbundoon Amenities Building, despite some rain delays over the past two weeks. The roof will be going on this week, with doors also being installed to allow the building to reach lock-up. The project will provide improved change rooms, bathrooms and general facilities for soccer players in the region, with a strong focus on female amenities. $572,884 is allocated to the project through the Federal Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, with Council also contributing $500,000. Local company ARW Multigroup were the successful tenderer for the project and are undertaking the build.

As revealed in the 2021 budget, the government is committing an additional $15.2 billion to infrastructure projects over the next ten years. This will bump the total federal commitment to $110 billion, with the additional spending said to account for 30,000 new jobs over the decade.  At a federal level, both the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and Road Safety Program are being extended for another year at the cost of $1 billion each.

Date Time Works to start on Derrinallum public toilet project A high priority community project to replace Derrinallum’s public toilets will start Tuesday 11 May and finish in July. The new toilet block will be constructed off site and installed on the site of the existing toilet in the town avenue. Temporary public toilets will be available in the avenue while the project is underway. The new facility has two separate male and female toilets, a unisex ambulant toilet, and a unisex accessible toilet with baby change table. Mayor Ruth Gstrein said the condition of the existing toilet block and structural concerns warranted replacement.

Date Time Baw Baw Shire Council makes switch to LED street lighting New LED streetlights in towns throughout Baw Baw Shire will reduce Council’s power bills for years to come and save approximately 365 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per annum. Council secured $575,027 in funding for the project through the Australian Government’s $500 million Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, which supports Councils and communities to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. This project is the second stage of LED lighting upgrades in Baw Baw Shire and has replaced 1,100 existing high-pressure sodium vapour, compact fluorescent, Twin T5 and high wattage mercury vapour lights on Council owned streets and roads.
