(TNN) - The City of Lawton and its Housing and Community Development Department have started an online Community Needs Survey that will be available until March 15, 2021. The survey is meant to assess the needs, desires and priorities for community improvement of Lawton residents. The information collected from respondents will help inform the decisions of the Housing and Community Development Division as strategic plans are developed.

Motlow State to feature Dr Fredrick Douglass Dixon for Black History Month

Motlow State Community College will welcome Dr. Fredrick Douglass Dixon on Feb. 23 when he presents “The Death of Black Wall Street and the Myth of the American Dream” from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom at mscc.zoom.us/j/93950141333. The presentation is part of Motlow’s celebration of African American History Month, embracing and modeling diversity, equity, and inclusion. Motlow’s Access and Diversity Committee, Community Relations Office, NIXLA Fellows, and the Dean of Students office are cohosting the event. About Dr. Dixon Dr. Dixon is an educator and community advocate. He is the director of the University of Wyoming’s Black Studies Center and an assistant professor in the African American and Diaspora Studies Department.
