Ramadan to Ramadan Under COVID-19: Why Support YOUR Masjid? Despite the challenges of the past year, your involvement, dua, and support of the Mosque Foundation continue to propel it as a leading Muslim organization addressing the diverse community’s spiritual, religious, and communal obligations. In 2020, although our doors temporarily closed, our services never stopped. As soon as it was safe, we re-opened our doors to welcome the community while keeping the cleanliness and preservation of our Masjid a top priority. Your generous support maintains the Masjid, Community Center, Al-Siddiq School, Zakat assistance programs and expand endowment properties and improvement projects.

AAACU donates to Sunrise Community Food Pantry | News, Sports, Jobs

Courtey Photo Through the hard work and dedication of its employees and the generosity of its membership, Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union raised $235.65 in monetary donations for Sunrise Community Food Pantry in Hubbard Lake. Sunrise Community Food Pantry collects and distributes food to those in need throughout Alpena and Alcona County. Along with member donations, Ossineke Branch team members held various raffles and donated $2 per employee to dress down on Fridays to help raise funds for Sunrise Community Food Pantry. AAACU serves members primarily in Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, and Iosco counties with nine locations: a main office located in Alpena, with branch offices in Ossineke, Lincoln, a Tiger Branch in Alcona Community Schools, Atlanta, Oscoda, the Owl’s Nest in Oscoda Area Schools, Tawas, and an additional branch in Alpena. Legacy Foundation gives $1,000 to Sunrise Community Food Pantry | News, Sports, Jobs

ALPENA First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation recently presented a $1,000 check to Sunrise Community Food Pantry as one of their first quarter grant recipients. The $1,000 will be used to replenish the food pantry’s food inventory so that they can continue to provide for families in need. Sunrise Community Food Pantry operates out of Hubbard Lake Bible Church. They distribute food to families in Alpena, Alcona, and Montmorency counties with household income below government established poverty thresholds. From October 2020 to December 2020, they provided food to an average of 93 families and 192 individuals. Their food distributions are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

New Banksy -like mural appears at Winchester hospital

The work by local artist Hendog is was painted overnight at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital. It shows a young child handing a bunch of flowers to an NHS keyworker. Food Truck Fridays Are Back!

Written by Tompkins Mahopac Bank Community Event to Benefit the  American Heart Association’s Dutchess-Ulster Heart Walk  Food Truck Fridays are headed back to the Hudson Valley this spring. The first in the series, featuring free to-go lunches from Party of Two Catering, will take place at the grand opening of  Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s new LaGrange location at 673 Freedom Plains Road, Poughkeepsie on Friday, April 23. The event, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m., is open to the public. It will feature a ribbon cutting at noon from the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, as well as remarks from the bank’s leadership, elected officials and dignitaries, and a donation to the American Heart Association’s Dutchess-Ulster Heart Walk.
