Food Bank, Community Garden benefit from COTR gift

Posted: May 27, 2021 Donated garden sheds were constructed by college’s Introduction to Construction students Two Cranbrook organizations, the Cranbrook Food Bank and Community Connections (organizers of the Community Garden) received the gift of a garden shed, thanks to students in College of the Rockies’ Introduction to Construction program. “I want to commend College of the Rockies for their meaningful gift in support of Cranbrook Food Bank and Community Connections Society of Southeast BC,” said Nicholas Simons, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. “It’s a fine example of community service and will go a long way to support food security in the region.”

Cranbrook Homeless program outlines support for shelter | Cranbrook, East Kootenay

Posted: January 26, 2021 Letter to the Editor This letter was sent to the City of Cranbrook by the authors. We are writing on behalf of the Cranbrook Homeless Outreach and Prevention Program in support of Cranbrook Homeless Outreach and Prevention Program ,2020 As a program of the Community Connections Society of Southeast BC, we call this location home.  We have been co-located there with outstanding Community Hub members for over five years and our program has been in existence for nearly fifteen.  Our organization has two Community Hubs which we share with other community partners who work with us providing services to our community. We are very much a part of Cranbrook and have been part of the downtown core Since 1982.

CFKR launches annual grant application process | Cranbrook, East Kootenay, Elk Valley, Elkford, Fernie, Sparwood

Posted: January 6, 2021 Trail sign Fernie Nordic Society The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies (CFKR) has launched its annual granting process for its community funds in Elkford, Sparwood, and Fernie, as well as its endowment funds for Cranbrook and area. CFKR welcomes applications from eligible non-profit organizations between January 1 and February 15. Interested non-profits are invited to visit www.cfkrockies.ca/grants/ to review and download CFKR’s 2021 grant application guidelines and fillable pdf application form. “Our permanently invested endowment funds continue to grow, and, as a result, our annual granting continues to grow as well,” said Lynnette Wray, CFKR Executive Director.
