The Rotary Club of Ashland is bringing back its “50-50 Super Raffle” for a second year to help fund the July 4 Ashland Rotary Fireworks, according to a news release from Rotary.
Tickets are $100 each with a maximum of 150 tickets sold and the winning ticket worth up to $7,500 if all the tickets are sold. The winner’s drawing will be broadcast live on the Rotary Club’s Facebook page and WRDL-88.9 during the pre-fireworks show on the evening of July 4th. Last year’s winning payout was $6,000.
“While the COVID pandemic has presented many challenges and changes in our lives, there is a new sense of optimism and hope that the worst is behind us,” says Fireworks Committee chair Mitch Piskur in the release. “We hope that this year’s July 4 festivities will not only remember our nation’s heritage but will celebrate our community’s victory over COVID.”
Liam McGuinness, the new commercial manager at York City Football Club. YORK City Football Club has a new commercial manager. Liam McGuinness is responsible for maximising opportunities around the LNER Community Stadium and at the club, including ticketing, sales, hospitality, events and advertising. He previously worked with Newcastle Racecourse as head of racing sales after about 10 years at Championship side Middlesbrough FC in sales, sponsorship and event management. Liam said: I’m thrilled and over the moon to be back in football and to be given this opportunity. Pretty much my whole career has been in sport, specifically football with
A LIFELONG York City supporter was given the chance to switch on the floodlights at Bootham Crescent for one final time - after the club s move to the LNER Community Stadium. James Abraham, keen supporter and volunteer at the club, illuminated the ground at around 8.45pm on Tuesday (April 27), with bystanders and local residents watching from the streets of Grosvenor Road. York City supporter Ann Laing originally won the raffle to turn on the lights at the 88-year-old ground, but decided to gift the opportunity to a club volunteer instead. She said: Although I am excited to have had my ticket chosen, and I have been a supporter for over 50 years, as well as a season ticket holder, I would rather you chose a more deserving person.
COLCHESTER United s former Layer Road fortress will always hold a special place in the heart of supporter Torin Bones. Not that he remembers visiting. The 13-year-old was just nine months old when dad Justin took him to the club s final fixture at their old home - a 1-0 defeat against Stoke City on April 26, 2008. Justin was keen for his baby son to be able to say he visited the ground - now a housing estate - before the U s set up base at their plush new Community Stadium. And although he obviously has no memory of the experience, Torin has special mementos that will always connect him to the club s past.
