New Delhi: Tihar Jail’s 37-year-old undertrial prisoner died due to COVID-19 at a hospital, an official said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Lala, who was lodged in Central Jail number 8/9, Tihar.
Lala had tested positive for the coronavirus on May 3 and was admitted to Burari Hospital the next day, a senior official said.
He was discharged from Burari Hospital on May 19 but after two days, he developed breathing difficulties and was referred to DDU Hospital. He died at the hospital on Sunday, the official said.

Ahmedabad: A Dalit man was allegedly attacked by 11 people for sporting a long moustache in Viramgam taluka, Ahmedabad. Three people have been arrested so far in the incident, police said on Monday.
In his complaint, Suresh Vaghela (22), who belongs to a Scheduled Caste community, said that 11 members of an Other Backward Classes (OBC) group attacked him for sporting a mustache, said deputy superintendent of police D.S. Vyas.
Telangana to Resume Second Dose Vaccination from May 25

Hyderabad: The second dose of COVID-19 vaccination for people above 45 years of age will commence from Tuesday across Telangana.
According to an official release, chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed officials to begin the second vaccination programme from today.
The release, issued on Monday night said, “The CM has asked people who have taken the first dose of COVID vaccine and are eligible for the second one to walk into the government vaccination centre nearby and get it.”
