PWPSD celebrates the class of 2021 - ReachFM: Peace Country s hub for local and Christian news, and adult contemporary Christian programming

Article continues below advertisement ↴ Today marks the start of a succession of high school graduation ceremonies throughout Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD). All events will adhere to the current public health protocols.  On Friday, May 28, Sexsmith Secondary School will send off 73 graduates during a Rustic with Glitter and Gold-themed cap and gown ceremony in the school parking lot. Graduates will receive their diplomas by individual appointments during 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Ridgevalley School will host a drive-in cap and gown ceremony and grand march for nine graduates at the school beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29. Graduates chose a Red Carpet theme. In keeping with the current guidelines for gatherings, the event is by invitation only. 

Leafs, Rebels players earn Neil Murdoch bursary awards

Each bursary is valued at $1,000 and will be applied towards post secondary studies.

Peace Wapiti adds their name to school divisions not piloting curriculum

Article content Peace Wapiti Public School Division made it unanimous amongst local school divisions not to pilot the new Alberta K-6 curriculum in the coming 2021-22 school year. “The basis of our decision is timing,” says PWPSD Superintendent Bob Stewart. “Our school staff and classroom experts are currently engaged in one of the most challenging years in education in recent history. Twelve COVID-19 cases confirmed at six PWPSD schools during Easter long weekend

The affected schools sent letters to their families immediately following notification of each positive case. Out of respect for the individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19, and in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, no further information will be shared about the cases.  The affected schools have been disinfected.
