The province confirmed seven COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the provincial total to 1,602.
In total, 134,341 total cases have been recorded, and 125,799 have recovered.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – Compared to the rest of the province, the North Peace had the highest positivity testing rate last week and has the lowest COVID-19 vaccination rates.
The data comes from leaked internal reports from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, released by the Vancouver Sun on Thursday.

It shows the region has remained steady while Peace River South has decreased by at least three per cent from the previous week.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – Northern Health is addressing rumours that staff at Fort St. John Hospital are neglecting patients.
“We understand rumours are circulating which share the perception that Fort St. John staff are not attending to patients properly. We need to put a stop to this conversation,” says Angela De Smit, Northeast Chief Operating Officer, in a statement Friday.

In a provincial announcement Thursday, four communities in Northern Health were identified as high-transmission zones, including Fort St. John.
The BCCDC has released their regional Covid-19 data for the week of April 25 to May 1.
The Northwest continues to see a low case count. The Northeastern part of the province is still seeing higher case counts.
Prince Rupert had a single case over this reporting period, Terrace, Kitimat and Smithers all recorded 4 cases each of the virus. Nechako had 9 cases, Burns Lake 3 and upper Skeena had 1.
Fort Nelson recorded 5 cases in the far Northeast, Peace River North had 61 cases, Peace River South had 40 cases and Prince George recorded 26 cases.

For the week of April 25th May 1st, Peace River North added 61 new cases, and Peace River South recorded 40 new cases.
Peace River North recorded 61 cases last week, while Peace River South had 76 cases.
The highest one-week total for the North region was 81 cases recorded between December 27th, 2020, and January 2nd, 2021.
