An aerial view of Site C powerhouse, penstocks and intakes. (BC Hydro) Peace Region leaders rush to respond to the province’s announcement that Site C construction will continue with an increased budget. On Friday, Premier John Horgan announced the decision to continue with the Site C dam project for an estimated $16 billion with a one-year delay, pushing the date the dam will be in service to 2025. West Moberly First Nations, in a release Friday, says the decision was made without any consultations with First Nations, downstream residents, or the general public. The First Nation states this is the second time the NDP government has added billions to the budget rather than cutting its losses for a greener option.
