“As noted with the presentation of the 2021 operating budget and with the report to Council on the 2020 year-end operating results analysis, the city faces further budget challenges for 2022,” says the report.
The city will also continue transitioning fire service revenue into its capital reserves, such as the Site C agreement.
Next year’s increase does not include inflationary increases in HR costs and other expenses.
“As always, administration will look to generate additional non-tax revenue and reduce expenses wherever possible,’ says Joy in the report.

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C – The Charlie Lake Fire Department hosted a wildland firefighting education session last month, inviting the Hudson’s Hope and Moberly Lake departments to train together.
The training focused on the use of a Wildland Structural Protection Unit, a mobile sprinkler system used to douse flames. Hudson’s Hope Fire Chief Brad Milton said the practical and strategic training will go a long way in troubleshooting and fixing problems when working in the field.
“You could be out a ways from your main base of operations, trying to protect an area threatened by wildfires,” said Milton. “With limited time and limited resources, you want to be able to know what you’re doing to troubleshoot those issues, to provide the best service possible to your community.”

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. – Montney Centennial Regional Park is transitioning to day-use only as part of a pilot project kicking off this spring, says the Peace River Regional District.
The project, taking place over the next three years, will offer exclusive activities during the day.
The PRRD says the project was approved to accommodate much needed upgrades to the park, including the development of trails, installing a picnic shelter, installing a fishing dock, updated signage and improvements to walkways and outhouses. ),whenLoaded(initFlexitive);
“The goal of this project is to expand the recreational pursuits at the park and attract a broader range of visitors for unique experiences that are not readily available in the surrounding area,” says the PRRD in a statement Friday.
