Along with multi-million financing for refining and hydropower by Italian and Austrian conglomerates, EU companies recognize our development opportunities and are fast becoming the world leaders of foreign direct investment in Uganda today.
Yet contrast this definitive vote of confidence with the smoke emanating from the European parliament. According to a letter written to EU High Representative Josep Borrell from a handful of parliamentarians, Uganda is not a place that should be helped - but rather punished. Updated: 9:20 AM CDT May 14, 2021 WDSU Digital Team A fire destroyed a building in St. Tammany Parish Friday morning. Fire District No. 8 responded to the fire at a building on Shubert Lane. Firefighters said when they arrived on scene the fire was fully involved. The structure was a wood frame building with metal walls and a roof used as a garage/storage, according to the fire department. The residence that was in close proximity sustained damage as well as two vehicles. Due to there being no hydrants in the area, several other districts were brought in to help fight the fire, fire officials said. The building is a total loss and the cause is under investigation, according to the fire department.
