GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -Teneeshia marshall has been the Director of the Office of Equity and Inclusion within the city of Gainesville since 2018 when the office was created. Marshall submitted her letter of resignation on April 30 with her last day with the city set for May 28. It’s a decision Marshall said was no easy choice. “I feel terrible to be honest with you that I feel that I have no choice but to kind of walk away.”

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe isn’t going to fight to keep outgoing Equal Opportunity Director Teneeshia Marshall. She abruptly quit last week, just days after receiving a $56,000 pay raise. Poe believes Marshall has a capable team behind her, and city leaders will continue working on the goals set by the department. “I understand she wants to pursue other professional opportunities. I really am excited about what that means for her. We want to offer her the best, anything we can do to help ease that transition,” explained the Mayor.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -Gainesville city commissioners hope to convince the city’s Equal Opportunity Director Teneeshia Marshall to stay on the job. Last week Marshall submitted her letter of resignation. Hours after being sworn in, Commissioner Desmon Duncan-Walker said that she does not accept Marshall’s resignation during a city commission meeting. The commissioner thinks Marshall is a phenomenal employee and believes losing her would be a travesty.
