MARSHFIELD – Following the removal of Mayor Bob McManus last month and weeks of postponing a decision, Marshfield City Council voted Tuesday night to have its president continue to handle official mayoral duties until next spring.
The 10 council members voted unanimously to not hold a special election and instead continue with their current system, with newly elected Council President Nick Poeschel maintaining most mayoral duties. The mayor’s seat will be up for election in April 2022.
New and re-elected council members took the oath of office last week and Poeschel, who has represented District 2 since 2017, replaced Tom Witzel as council president.
