BUCYRUS - Mayor Jeff Reser and Service-Safety Director Jeff Wagner will attend the next meeting of Bucyrus City Council as long as council members go through security.
Council members signed a letter dated May 6 that asked both men to attend the regular meeting that begins 7 p.m. May 18.
The mayor has accepted their request, contingent upon their submission to a security screening. Mr. Wagner and I thank council members for changing the security protocol back to the previous way as we had requested, Reser said. We will start attending meetings as needed.
Council s policy about security checks changed on March 18 when Council President Kurt Fankhauser posted a letter outside council chambers that allowed himself and others to bypass the police officers who guard the meetings.

BUCYRUS - Robert Taylor is tired of chaos within Bucyrus city hall.
Taylor told members of Bucyrus City Council during Tuesday s regular council meeting that the chaos they had created has caused him to begin the process of seeking one of their jobs. I will tell you this, there are a lot of frustrated people in the city of Bucyrus, Taylor told council members. I have been going around with a petition with the intent to run for an at-large council seat.
His decision to run or not will be based on the results of that petition. I may well not do that, but I am seeing what the support looks like for me to do it, Taylor said. A lot of people have asked me to.

BUCYRUS At Tuesday night’s regular Bucyrus City Council meeting, Council President Kurt Fankhauser, temporarily passed the gavel to President pro tempore Bruce Truka. Fankhauser approached the podium that is used by the public to address the council. He then read the following letter:
It has recently come to my attention that there most likely is an active criminal investigation regarding the Council Office. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the parties involved, and the fact that the office itself may very well be a crime scene the office can no longer function properly. Therefore effective immediately I am closing the office pending any and all investigations so that said investigations can be concluded swiftly and un-fettered.
