Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday hit out at the Left government in Kerala and said the move for a judicial inquiry against the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which has been probing the gold smuggling case, was an attempt to derail the probe. Sitharaman, who is here for electioneering, told reporters that those who are afraid of facing the law are unleashing the state police force against the central agencies. If you are clean, prove it.If you are not, then I am sorry, this is absolutely wrong.The person who unleashes his own investigative or state police officers is the one who is frightened of facing the law.
The increase in coronavirus cases in the national capital has prompted institutions of higher education here including the Delhi University (DU) and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to take necessary steps to control the spread of the virus on their campuses. While the DU issued guidelines on Saturday advising students to stay at home or their hostels and avoid physical presence for their academic work unless very essential , the JNU on Sunday made it mandatory for all to wear masks at all the times inside the campus. In a notice, the DU said that academic activities and essential works will continue with thermal screening at gates, social distancing and wearing masks mandatorily, while entry inside the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, hostels and halls among other places will be restricted and no outsiders allowed.
Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers D. V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the 11th Edition of India Chem 2021 in New Delhi with the theme India: Global Manufacturing hub for chemicals and petrochemicals. He stated that the Indian chemicals and petrochemicals industry is growing to new heights, and informed that an investment of Rs 8 lakh crore is anticipated in the sector by 2025.
During his speech, Sadananda Gowda also appreciated that Department and FICCI has organised the event. He added that the growth in the chemical and petrochemicals industry is also contributing to the Prime Minister s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He informed that Government has launched 12 PLI scheme for different sectors which will directly or indirectly benefit the chemicals sector. He also stated that the Government is prioritising the sector and in the Budget 2021-21, the import duty on Naphtha has been reduced from 4.0% to 2.5%.
