Upko welcomes King s advice for Parliament to sit during Emergency

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah s United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) has welcomed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong s advice that Parliament can sit during the current state of Emergency. The party leaders said the King s views reflected his concerns and the importance of maintaining the functions of the three branches of government - executive, legislature and judiciary - during this challenging time. With the statement from the King, we hope that Parliament will be called soon as many issues and matters need to be addressed urgently. Judge disappointed in having to vacate Bung Moktar s trial dates Modified21 Dec 2020, 9:27 am A - Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayob who presided over the corruption case involving Bung Moktar Radin and his wife, Zizie Ezette A Samad, expressed disappointment that she had to vacate the dates which had been fixed to continue hearing of the case this week. This is because the Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, who is also the Kinabatangan Member of Parliament, has to attend the Sabah Legislative Assembly sitting.
