Location of the migratory bird found dead in Siswan rivulet in Ropar district of Punjab PATIALA: The sample of a migratory bird that was found dead in Siswan rivulet in Ropar district of Punjab around ten days back has reported positive on Tuesday according to the wildlife officials. The sample of bar-headed goose, a migratory bird, was taken on January 8 after the wildlife officials found it dead in the Siswan rivulet following which the district officials claimed to have sent the sample for testing. The officials said that it is suspected the bird might have flown from Pong dam and died on the way to his destiny. They said that the bar-headed goose was found dead on the rivulet and there was no residence or poultry farm or bird activity in around one-kilometre area of the location of bird’s death.

Farmer deaths: Officers visit victim families in Patiala | Ludhiana News

PATIALA: Patiala division commissioner Chander Gaind and deputy commissioner Kumar Amit visited the families of farmers who lost their lives during the ongoing agitation against the new agri-marketing laws at Singhu border on Thursday, to assure them of monetary help. Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, who made video calls to these families, assured them of Rs 5 lakh ex gratia grant each. Gaind, who met Bachan Kaur, the mother of deceased farmer Pal Singh (58) of Sahauli village near Bhadson, said the state government is committed to help these families and extending them every possible support. At Sapherra village, he directed the district officials to pursue cases of two farmers Gurpreet Singh (22) and Labh Singh (68) who died in a road accident while returning home from Singhu border for monetary help to the families. He also ordered similar help to those who were injured the accident.
