LEBANON A driver heading in the wrong direction on an interstate in Boone County crashed head-on into another vehicle Monday evening, Dec. 14, killing a Greenfield woman.
Nicole Watson, 22, was traveling north on Interstate 65 south of Lebanon in Boone County when her car, a Saturn Ion, was struck by a GMC Terrain SUV driven by Bill Rainwater, 83, of Indianapolis. Rainwater was traveling south on the wrong side of the highway, according to a report from the Lebanon Police Department. Watson, a graduate of Greenfield-Central High School who was attending Indiana University, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Boone County coroner’s office.

LEBANON, Ind. (WLFI) Lebanon police are investigating a fatal crash on I-65 that claimed the life of a Greenfield woman Monday evening.
According to police, the crash happened around 7 p.m. Monday night. Police received reports of an SUV driving the wrong way on I-65 north in Boone County when they learned of the head-on crash.

A preliminary investigation showed the SUV, driven by 83-year-old Bill Rainwater of Indianapolis was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-65. Around the 128 mile marker, Mr. Rainwater’s vehicle struck a Saturn Ion head-on driven by 22-year-old Nicole Watson of Greenfield.

LEBANON, Ind. A Greenfield woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 65 Monday evening.
According to Lebanon Police, officers responded to a report of a wrong-way driver who was traveling south in the northbound lanes near the 138 mile marker just before 7 p.m. Police were then informed of a head-on crash involving two vehicles at the 136.2 mile marker.
Investigators say 83-year-old Bill Rainwater of Indianapolis was driving the wrong way in a GMC Terrain when he struck a Saturn Ion driven by 22-year-old Nicole Watson of Greenfield.
Watson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
