One of the important problems relating to the protection of
consumers is the application of a hidden price increase by reducing
the weight, quantity and similar aspects of basic consumption
products, mainly foods and cosmetics and cleaning products. In

What happened?
On 9 February 2021, the Chamber of Deputies voted a law that
implements Directive (EU) 2018/1808 of 14 November 2018
into Luxembourg law. Within the framework of the Digital Single
Market Strategy for Europe, that Directive, entered into force on
18 December 2018, amended Directive 2010/13/EU on the provision of

The Slovak Advertising Standards Council (SRPR) assessed the
food chamber s complaint against a series of Christmas
advertisements of the retail chain Lidl for affordable foods.
Satisfied customers who come out of Lidl s shops with shopping
bags so full that the purchased food almost drops out of them
appear in the advertising spots.
The Slovak Food Chamber perceived these spots as outrageous and
