London-based designer Yinka Ilori draws on his British and Nigerian heritage to tell new stories in contemporary design. He studied Furniture and Product Design at London Metropolitan University and began his practice in 2011, designing and making upcycled furniture. He now also works both on a larger scale, with recent installations such as Happy Street at Nine Elms, The Colour Palace at Dulwich Picture Gallery and Get Up Stand Up at Somerset House, and on a smaller scale, having developed a range of tableware and home accessories. We caught up with him to find out more about his breakthrough collection, If Chairs Could Talk, pieces from which have been exhibited at the Vitra Museum in Switzerland, New York’s Guggenheim Museum and the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery in the UK.
The Belgrade School Board on Monday passed a formal resolution to open its third elementary school in the fall, mere minutes after reviewing recommendations for attendance boundaries that will change when the new Story Creek Elementary opens its doors in August.
Superintendent Godfrey Saunders shared two maps showing possible attendance boundaries for Story Creek and the districtâs other elementary schools, Saddle Peak and Ridge View. The Story of O will soon be showcased. Multimedia titan Oprah Winfrey is slated to have a biographical documentary released on Apple TV+.
According to the Associated Press, the growing streaming platform has announced that there will be a two-part documentary that will focus on Winfrey’s life. The unnamed project will be highlighting 25 years of American history through the eyes of Winfrey “who rose from humble roots to become a billionaire, philanthropist, actress, media executive, and agent of social change.”
