Covaxin given instead of Covishield for 20 second-dose seekers in UP village, probe ordered
Villager s in Uttar Pradesh s Siddhartha Nagara district received different vaccines in the first and second doses. The incident has been subject to investigation by Chief Medical Officer.

After initially denying that about 20 residents of a village in Uttar Pradesh s Siddhartha Nagar district were administered a different vaccine brand for the second dose, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Sandeep Chaudhary said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
He said stern action would be taken against those responsible for the mix-up. Health workers in the district had administered the Covaxin to 20 villagers who had been given Covishield in the first dose.

A group of villagers was given mixed doses of vaccines at a government hospital in Uttar Pradesh in an incident that an officer blames on oversight . Around 20 villagers in Siddharthnagar district near the border with Nepal were given both Covaxin and Covishield. Officials claim no one has faced any adverse health effects and those responsible will be punished.
The shocker took place at a Primary Health Centre in the largely rural district around 270 km from state capital Lucknow. The villagers were injected with Covishield in the first week of April and then given Covaxin as their second dose on May 14.

New Delhi: Around 20 villagers in Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharthnagar district who had been given a dose of the Covishield vaccine received Covaxin for the second dose at a government hospital – a mistake that local officials have attributed to administrative oversight.
NDTV, doesn’t appear to have led to adverse health effects in those who received the vaccine, according to state government officials.
However, it may also be too soon to tell, not to mention India at large doesn’t have a functional mechanism for people to report adverse events following immunisation.
