New owners Corey and Alex Fry announced the reopening date of April 15. What’s really special about the Fry’s purchase is it means the business will stay in the family. Corey’s cousin Tyler Smith who owned the restaurant since 2006, died last December at the age of 53. Corey worked at the Junction for 25 years, most of that time under the leadership of his cousin.
“After the passing of Tyler, which was heartbreaking my wife and I, we decided to purchase The Junction because it needed to stay in the family and the community needs it up and running,” Corey told me. “I have always enjoyed cooking in the restaurant. It’s my passion and I feel like I can bring the quality of food back at a reasonable price. We are looking forward to this new adventure and making Tyler proud.”

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, restaurants are gearing up for a pandemic-appropriate celebration, full of swoon-worthy takeout specials and socially distanced tables. According to
Reader’s Digest, one Massachusetts restaurant stands out as particularly dreamy: Harvest in Cambridge.
“They have a back patio decorated with string lights, overhead heaters, and a gas fireplace,” the publication described. “There’s also an open-air dining room, which is weather permitting. Dine on seasonal food including lobster, oysters, berries, and exotic cheeses.” Advertisement
Harvest will offer takeout and dine-in specials for Valentine’s Day, plus a Harvest Sweet Treats Gift Box created by executive pastry chef Joshua Livsey. Inside the box, sweethearts will find two Dulcey chocolate Bon Bons, two pate de fruit, and two chocolate almond dragees perfect for capping off a romantic holiday meal.
The Junction, popular Mark Twain Lake restaurant/nightclub closes
Local and regional favorite, The Junction Restaurant and Lounge in Perry, MO served its last plate of food on Sunday, marking the end of an era for the Mark Twain Lake area. It was a tradition at the lake since 1983.
On January 10, their Facebook page read, “It’s with great sadness that The Junction Restaurant and Lounge will close their doors at 2p.m today. We will have a very limited menu which we will post around 10 this morning. Thank you for your generosity and patronage over the years. The staff at the Junction will miss all of you.”
