Satya Mitra COVID-19 pandemic india Joy Guru Humanitarian Services

WORCESTER Satya Mitra, an Indian man who has called Worcester home for over 40 years, is raising money to provide relief during India s ongoing COVID-19 crisis.  It is so painful to see the devastating situation and the suffering of the people in India, said Mitra.  India is currently battling a catastrophic second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. They recorded 4,529 deaths on Wednesday, the highest in a single day in any country during the pandemic. Mitra s goal is to raise $100,000, of which he has about $30,000.  The funds will be distributed through the Joy Guru Humanitarian Services, a charitable foundation established by Mitra and his wife, Sheema, in 2016. The foundation s primary goal is to serve the Worcester community, says Mitra, but they want to help wherever there is humanitarian need.
