NEMA promotes 212 as DG demands greater commitment

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed (rtd) has approved the promotion of 212 staff of the Agency who were recommended for an upgrade following their successful performance in the recent promotion examinations conducted by both the Senior and Junior Staff Establishment Committees of the Agency.
Of the number of workers promoted, 144 was put forward by the Senior Staff Establishment Committee after a rigorous examination and interview process, with the result endorsed by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development; Sadiya Umar Farouq. The Junior Staff Establishment Committee conducted the examination for the other successful 68 staffers.

The statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by Mrs Nneka Anibeze, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, said the beneficiaries were selected from the 25 local government areas of the state. x
Farouq explained that the grant was part of the social protection programmes of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration aimed at uplifting the most vulnerable groups out of poverty.

The Federal Government has approved the National Policy on Ageing for Older Persons in Nigeria, says an official of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
Mrs Nneka Anibeze, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
She stated that the objective of the policy is to have a society where senior citizens are guaranteed security, independence, participation, comprehensive care, self-fulfilment and dignity.

The Ministries of Petroleum Resources, Humanitarian Affairs, Water Resources, Power, Interior as well as Communications and Digital Economy are expected to make presentations at the 33rd virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting is being presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday.
NAN also reports that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; and Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari, are physically attending the meeting. x
Ten ministers are also physically attending the meeting.

The virtual weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting is on at the State House, Abuja with President Muhammadu Buhari presiding.
The 33rd edition of the meeting holding at the Council Chambers is physically attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha and the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
Ten ministers are also in attendance and they include Ministers of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Attorney General of the federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Finance, Zainab Ahmed; Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu; and Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu.
