NEMA distributes relief materials to IDPs in Niger

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of relief materials to 24,925 households of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by banditry in 14 local government areas of Niger.
This is disclosed in a statement by Mr Manzo Ezekiel, Head of Media and Public Relations of the agency on Thursday in Abuja.
Retired Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed, Director-General, NEMA, who was represented by Hajiya Zainab Saidu, Head of Minna Operations Office of the agency inaugurated the distribution of the materials in Kuta, Shororo LGA.

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed (rtd) has approved the promotion of 212 staff of the Agency who were recommended for an upgrade following their successful performance in the recent promotion examinations conducted by both the Senior and Junior Staff Establishment Committees of the Agency.
Of the number of workers promoted, 144 was put forward by the Senior Staff Establishment Committee after a rigorous examination and interview process, with the result endorsed by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development; Sadiya Umar Farouq. The Junior Staff Establishment Committee conducted the examination for the other successful 68 staffers.

The Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed (rtd), has said the federal government is committed to ensuring that internally displaced persons (IDPs) have their food rations.
He said the federal government is also committed to drying off tears from their faces by providing them with some level of comfort and healthy living at the various camps they are being housed.
Speaking during the monthly distribution of food items at IDP camps in Borno State on Monday, the Director General, who was represented by Head, Borno State Food Distribution Team, Navy Captain Mustapha Abdullahi, said the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to continuously improve the welfare of IDPs.
