Public can comment on policies and procedures of North Brunswick Police Department on July 12 A team of assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) will examine all aspects of the North Brunswick Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services on July 12. As part of this final on-site assessment, employees and members of the general public are invited to provide comments to the assessment team. They may do so by telephone or email. The public may call 732-951-7278 on July 12 from 10-11 a.m. Telephone comments are limited to 5 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the NJSACOP standards. Contact Lt. Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office scheduled for an on-site assessment; public comments welcomed April 26 The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of its program to achieve accreditation by verifying that it meets recognized professional best practices. Administered by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with best practice standards in five basic areas: the administrative function, the personnel function, the operations function, the investigative function, and the arrestee/detainee function. Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling 732-256-0055 on April 26 from 10-11 a.m. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team. Emailed comments can be sent to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office at Accreditation@co.middlesex.nj.us.

WMU Public Safety raises the bar as department earns coveted accreditation

KALAMAZOO, Mich. Western Michigan University Department of Public Safety (WMU DPS) joins a select group of police agencies in Michigan and just three in Kalamazoo County to be accredited for its policies and procedures, management, operations and support services. As one of just 34 departments out of almost 600 police agencies in the state, WMU DPS meets the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission s best practice standards to achieve accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and Portage Public Safety also hold that designation in Kalamazoo County.
