NOMINATED: Peter Garwood has been praised for the hours he has worked with the Rotary Club to help with Covid vaccinations. A VOLUNTEER has raised praise from three organisations for the hours of work he has dedicated to them during their battle against Covid and assistance in administrating the vaccine. Peter Garwood, of Fairfield Lane, Barrow, has worked voluntarily as an organiser for Rotary Club of Furness Peninsula, and has co-ordinated with Rotary Club of Barrow and Rotary Club of Furness. AWARDED: Peter Garwood has been praised for his efforts As an organiser, Peter has managed dozens of volunteers from all three clubs to assist in various events, and since December with the Covid vaccine distribution.
Plans are now well-rooted for a new section of woodland in Barrow to go ahead next year. These plans include 450 to 500 trees at Bridgegate Avenue in Barrow and 200 for Dalton s junction of Coronation Drive and Greystone Lane The Rotary Club of Furness, alongside the Rotary Club of Barrow in Furness, Rotary Club of Furness Peninsula, and the Inner Wheel Club of Barrow, have obtained permission from Barrow Borough Council for these new planting sites. Graham Postlethwaite, secretary for Furness Rotary, said: This is something we have wanted to do for a while and have been seeking planting sites. Recently we obtained permission from Barrow Borough Council to develop planting sites at Dalton and Barrow.
