Rotary Club members donate their meals to those in need

January 28, 2021 111 The Rotary Club of the Torrington and Winsted Areas, in the hills of northwestern Connecticut, is proudly supporting its community in this time of COVID-19. When the pandemic hit, previously reliable weekly donations of food contributions to two local soup kitchens dried up. The Club, having canceled all in-person meetings, made the decision to support those important service providers, and, in so doing, to support its hosts. Members decided to continue to pay for their regular weekly meals, provided by hosts, Chatterley’s, and now, Catered by Gia. However, instead of enjoying their meals together in the fellowship of Rotary, they donated them each week to FISH (Friends in Service to Humanity) and the Community Soup Kitchen, to help feed their growing list of clients.
