Lostine River Run set for July 3

LOSTINE — The Lostine River Run is back for its 37th year, and will be run on Saturday, July 3, beginning at 9 a.m. All three races will start and finish at Providence Academy (or the old Lostine School) according to a Rotary Club of Wallowa County press release.  The 5K and 10K both start at 9 a.m., and the 1-mile starts at 10 a.m. Check-in runs from 7-8:15 a.m.   Pre-registration for the race is available online now at http://lostineriverrun.itsourrace.com. Registration is $20 for both the 5K and 10K races before race day, and $25 on race day. The 1-mile is $10 before the day of the race, and $15 on race day. T-shirts are $15 with pre-registration, and are available if they are ordered by June 27.

Sessions offer tradies chance to learn new skills

Premium Content Subscriber only The Tradie Tour will be visiting the Fraser Coast this month, presenting two important sessions covering the industry’s top 10 defects and focusing on annual financial reporting lodgement and new laws for Queensland. One session will be about plasterboard, which consistently appears in the top 10 list of defects. Partnering with experts from the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries Queensland, information will be provided on installation, finishing and much more. The other topic is annual financial lodgement and new laws for Queensland. The Hervey Bay sessions will be held on March 23. Spaces are limited so make sure you register now.

Rotary raises money through fundraisers

ENTERPRISE — The Rotary Club of Wallowa County raised more than $4,600 in two holiday season fundraisers, benefiting Community Connection and helping area farmers and ranchers, according to a press release. In an annual challenge against Soroptimist International of Wallowa County, the club raised $3,672 for food programs at Community Connection, while Soroptimists raised $2,600, according to the release. Community Bank added $3,231 in contributions, bringing the total to more than $9,500. The club assisted Prairie Creek Farms owner Patrick Thiel as it bought part of his crop to donate to Community Connection. The club also sold part of his crops, and ground beef from 6 Ranch in Enterprise, and in the process raised about $1,000 for the club s scholarship fund.
