UK to ‘Revolutionise’ Adult Education to Boost Post-Pandemic Recovery: Johnson
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he will “revolutionise” the UK’s education system by providing older teenagers and adults with lifetime skills training.
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need to bring the skills and education system “closer to the employer market” and widen the opportunities that are available for all, Downing Street said.
The “Lifetime Skills Guarantee” is part of the government’s new legislative programme, which was unveiled in the Queen’s Speech during the State Opening of Parliament on Tuesday.
In a statement, Johnson said: “These new laws are the rocket fuel that we need to level up this country and ensure equal opportunities for all. We know that having the right skills and training is the route to better, well-paid jobs.

The Prime Minister said he was “revolutionising” the adult education and training system as the Government prepared to set out its legislative agenda in the Queen’s Speech on Tuesday.
Downing Street said the promise of a “lifetime skills guarantee” will be central to plans for the new parliamentary session as the Government seeks to rebuild the nation after the coronavirus pandemic.
No 10 said new laws will create a post-16 and adult education and training system that is “fit for the future”.

Ministers are to unveil a legislative programme aimed at the Conservative governmentâs new electoral strongholds in northern England and the Midlands, with a Queenâs speech focused on adult education and home ownership.
It also features proposals to bring in mandatory voter ID, which has been condemned by US civil rights groups as akin to Republican-style voter suppression. Another plan will pave the way to outlaw conversion practices.
The list of planned laws for the new parliament, billed by Downing Street as seeking to put into policy Boris Johnsonâs idea of levelling up, will be unveiled by the monarch in an unprecedented and stripped back version of the event.
