Everett recently. The cityâs animal control officer, Stacia Gorgone, said several residents spotted the opossum on Bradford Street on March 12 and were concerned about its health. Thatâs when the calls started pouring in. âWe must have gotten 40 calls,â Gorgone said. âPeople were like freaking out. Bicyclist seriously injured in Marlborough crash
MARLBOROUGH A bicyclist suffered serious injuries Tuesday evening after being struck by a pickup truck while trying to cross the road near Mechanic and Lincoln streets, authorities said.
The 34-year-old man was flown to UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester by a medical rescue helicopter after first being treated at a local hospital.
Neither Marlborough police nor the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office knew the man’s condition on Wednesday morning.
The man was trying to cross the street about 5:51 p.m., police spokesman Sgt. Zachary Attaway said Wednesday.
A GMC pickup truck driving northbound on Mechanic Street collided with the bicyclist. The pickup s driver stayed at the scene of the crash, Attaway said.
SAMPLER: Police department renews accreditation

The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission voted to award Accreditation status to the Marlborough Police Department for another three-year period ending in January 2024. The Department first earned Accreditation in 2018 after meeting 257 mandatory standards as well as 85 optional standards. The Accreditation process is time consuming and an intensive analysis of the department’s policies and procedures which seeks to ensure that the department meets the standards considered to be best practices for the profession.
The Accreditation process consists of two major components: 1) The establishment of a body of professional standards and policies and 2) a voluntary assessment process by which agencies can be publicly recognized for meeting those standards considered best practices for the profession.
