09:03 | Moyobamba (San Martin region), Dec. 23. The COVID-19 Command in San Martin region has met to adopt measures aimed at strengthening prevention and control before year-end celebrations, considering the new coronavirus strain identified in the United Kingdom and its potential arrival in Peru.
According to the minutes of the meeting, the COVID-19 Command has decided to support the Safe Christmas plan implemented by the National Police of Peru, which covers a series of operations throughout the region.
Additionally, peasant patrol groups pledged to implement measures for the control of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For their part, local governments committed to articulate efforts with peasant patrol groups, municipal patrol guards, the National Police, and the Peruvian Army so as to enforce the provisions implemented by the Executive Branch, within the framework of the health emergency.
