7 arrested by BGB while illegally crossing Jashore border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members today arrested seven Bangladeshis including women and children while they were crossing to India illegally through the Chougachha border in Jashore.
Among the arrestees are three women, two children and two men hailing from Bagerhat, Narail and Pirojpur districts, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting BGB. They were detained from the main pillar 40/6S of Chougachha border while entering India illegally, said 49-BGB Commanding Officer Lt Colonel Selim Reza. A case was filed against the detainees and later they were handed over to the Chougachha Police Station, added the BGB official.

A housewife was stabbed allegedly by a local union parishad (UP) member in Jashore s Chaugachha upazila on Tuesday night as she rejected his illicit proposal.
The alleged culprit also snatched some gold ornament and cash from the victim s house.
After taking treatment at Chougachha Upazila Health Complex, the injured victim, wife of a Malaysia expatriate and mother of two children, lodged a written complaint with Chaugachha Police Station accusing Ali Ahmed, a member of Narayanpur union parishad, yesterday.
According to the complaint, Ali along with his two to three accomplices entered the victim s house around 10:30pm and stabbed her with a knife as she has been rejecting his illicit proposal for long.
