WOODSFIELD A local organization received a $10,000 grant that will go toward the expansion of the Monroe County Dolly Parton Imagination Library program that provides free books to hundreds of children.
The Monroe County Community Foundation, a partner with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, presented the donation to the United Way of Guernsey, Monroe & Noble Counties, the program coordinator of the county’s Imagination Library. The money will be used to fund the county’s Imagination Library program, which provides children ages birth to 5 years old free, “high-quality” books each month.
Gwynn Stewart, MCCF committee member, said the funding will allow for the program’s expansion in the county and provide books to additional children.

NELSONVILLE - Five communities in Southeast Ohio have been selected to take part in Ohio Southeast Economic Development s Prepared Communities Program, including the Village of New Concord and Noble County.
The program is a series of five sessions with Ohio Southeast and Bricker and Eckler, a Columbus legal firm. The goal is to help communities plan short-term economic projects that can be implemented in 2021 or 2022.
The sessions are a small step to start talking about what all of the myriad of things that make up economic development in our region, Ohio Southeast Vice President Katy Farber said.
Ohio State University Extension Community Development to Host Historic Tax Credits Virtual Lunch & Learn Feb. 4
Now that the Caldwell Downtown Historic District is official, property owners and community leaders should join us to learn more about the Historic Tax Credit programs during a virtual lunch and learn Feb 4. Hosted by Ohio State University Extension Noble County Community Development, the Virtual Lunch and Learn is free and will be Feb. 4 from Noon – 1 p.m. via Zoom.
The program is coordinated by Community Development Educator Gwynn Stewart – Noble Co. Extension and will be led by Joyce Barrett, Executive Director of Heritage Ohio which fosters economic development and sustainability through preservation of historic buildings, revitalization of downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts, and promotion of cultural tourism.
