The Oceanside City Council, on a 3-1 vote Wednesday, appointed real estate agent Kori Jensen to the District 1 seat left vacant Nov. 3 when longtime Councilwoman Esther Sanchez was elected mayor.
Jensen will be sworn in at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Oceanside city clerk’s office and will immediately start her term, which lasts through 2022. A ceremonial swearing-in will be held at the Feb. 3 council meeting.
Housing, public safety, solutions for the city’s homeless problem, and keeping sand on the city’s eroding beaches would be her top priorities as a council member, Jensen said in response to questions from council members Wednesday.
