Australia’s Federal Infrastructure Budget for 2021 The Australian government has announced an additional $15.2 billion in new infrastructure funding in the 2021-22 Budget to help aid economic recovery from the CCP virus pandemic. The additional funding adds to the $110 billion 10-year building plan investment that already formed part of the National Economic Recovery Plan which the government says will support around 30,000 jobs across the country. Nation-building projects were the focus of the infrastructure spending, with a $1 billion boost for the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, bringing the total commitment to $2.5 billion, and another $1 billion to the now $3 billion Road Safety Program.

Roads shut as rainfall set to break records Cairns Airport is set to break its single-day April rainfall record and several roads have been closed as more heavy rain tumbles down. The Bureau of Meteorology advised Cairns Airport had received 194mm between 9am Monday and 8.30am Tuesday, and that it would be hard to suggest the record hadn t already been broken, but the data needed to be confirmed, which could take days. Another 79mm of rain has fallen at the airport in the past six hours, though the day s heaviest falls so far have been at Tully where 128mm has fallen since 9am.

Photo: Google Street View Plans to introduce changes to the payment methods to park in a number of roads in Haringey have been published. A notice from Haringey Council in this week’s edition of the Enfield Independent outlines a proposal to convert shared some permit holders and ‘pay by phone’ parking places in eight controlled parking zones into ‘pay by phone’ only. The order is scheduled to come into effect from March 27 and it will affect the following parking zones and locations:
